Juggernaut vs Apocalypse - the X-Men's strongest opponents
Many powerful opponents stood in the X-Men’s way. Apocalypse and Juggernaut certainly deserve special recognition. Their appearance promises nothing good. Both of them have powerful powers, thanks to which they are easily able to complete their task. But what if their paths crossed? Who would emerge victorious from the Juggernaut vs Apocalypse duel?
Juggernaut – strengths and weaknesses
Juggernaut also known as Cain Marco is the foster brother of Professor Xavier. After finding the Cyttorak gem, he swore revenge on his brother. The jewel gave him tremendous physical strength, and he can easily handle weights of over a hundred tons. If he accelerates he is unstoppable. His magical power has also given him indestructibility, he can’t be injured in any way, which, combined with his speed and endurance, make him able to fight all the time with no signs of fatigue. It needs neither food, water nor sleep. These are undoubtedly great assets when facing an opponent like Apocalypse.
Of course, like most Marvel heroes, Cain also has some weaknesses. He is susceptible to telepathic attacks. For protection against them he uses his distinctive helmet. But once it is removed, he remains vulnerable to mind manipulation.
Apocalypse – abilities and skills
Apocalypse, or En Sabah Nur, is one of the first mutants in the X-Men world. In addition to his extraordinary abilities, he still has access to the extremely powerful technologies of the Celestial race. This is an important aspect of the duel with Juggernaut, whose powers are magical.
He possesses superhuman strength, endurance or intelligence. He has full control over his body at the molecular level. If necessary, he can transform his body at will or increase or decrease its size. He is immortal and has immense regenerative abilities. He is invulnerable to most attacks. But these are not his greatest assets in the fight against Cain.
En Sabah Nur is also a telepath. He can control the minds of others. He effortlessly bends the wills of others. It is definitely these abilities, along with Celestial technology, that will play the biggest role in their direct clash.
Round 1 – No preparation
In this case it is difficult to choose a winner. One side and the other has tremendous power, the healers will not be able to injure the opponent in any way. If Apocalypse doesn’t manage to take off Juggernaut’s helmet he has no chance of defeating him. The longer they fight, the hardships of the duel will also bother En Sabah Nur more. Because Marco can easily fight indefinitely. Therefore, after some time, Apocalypse should withdraw from this pointless confrontation to better prepare himself.
Round 2 – Preparing for the fight
In the case of the Juggernaut vs Apocalypse confrontation, the preparation for the fight gives much more room for En Sabah Nur. Jugfernaut is not particularly intelligent, relying only on his strength and indestructibility. There is nothing particularly to prepare here, he would move into battle again without worrying about his opponent.
For Apocalypse, this is a much better scenario. He could plan the location of the fight so as to limit the opponent’s mobility. He himself, with his teleportation or shape-shifting abilities, would not feel the hardship of fighting in a cramped environment. Also, the technology he has access to could make the clash easier. The main goal would be to deprive Cain of his helmet, protecting him from telepathic attacks. On more than one occasion, weaker characters in the Marvel universe have been able to do this.
Apocalypse, as a telepath, would take advantage of this opportunity. Of course, he couldn’t directly defeat Juggernaut. Through mind control, he could try to learn the location of Cyttorak’s jewel, if he deprived him of this artifact then he would lose all his power. As a human, he would have no chance against the ancient mutant and the mutant would deprive him of his life with one attack.
Juggernaut vs Apocalypse in the comics
Unfortunately, the clash of Juggernaut vs Apocalypse did not take place in the pages of the comic book. However, we have included some clues about this duel. in the Incredible Hulk #457 issue, during the duel between Juggernaut and War Hulk, we see how, thanks to Celestial technology, War Hulk is able to easily defeat the enemy. All of this is watched by Apocalypse. This may be the decisive factor that prevails in this battle, but let’s remember that in comic books characters are only as strong as their author wants them to be. Therefore, depending on the events that are presented to us, the duel Apocalypse vs Juggernaut may have a different course.
