Mewthree - Urban legend of Mewtwo's new transformation
At a time when the Internet was not yet so widely available, urban legends were very popular. The world of Pokemon was also not exempt from them. Fans eagerly awaited new information about their favorite series. Such stories were supposed to be lent credence by Mew – a mysterious legendary Pokemon added to the first-generation games at the last moment. For years it had been impossible to obtain. Not surprisingly, then, more and more stories began to appear. This led to the phenomenon that was PokeGods – that is, mythical creatures known for their immense strength and absurd requirements to catch them. Among them appeared the most popular of them – Mewthree.

ToggleHistory and Rise of Mewthree
The first season of the Pokemon animated series contained many remarkable moments. From the very first episode we are introduced to Ho-oh, who will not officially debut until the second generation. Even before the first movie hits theaters, the mysterious Pokemon in armor is introduced in episode #63 – The Battle of the Badge. Even then, speculations about this powerful Pokemon began to appear. It would be hard to pinpoint a clear moment when this legend was created. Mewthree would be most associated with the GameBoy and GameBoy Color games.
Mewtwo was created during experiments with Mew DNA. There is a theory that several creatures were the result of failed attempts by scientists. Namely, we are talking about Ditto or Grimer, for example. We can look for many similarities, but it could be just a simple coincidence. Many Pokémon from the first generation had many similar features, this was due to the fact that all of them were illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Thus, it could have resulted simply from his style.
However, this didn’t stop fans around the world from searching for hidden secrets in the game’s files. Mewthree may look comical from today’s perspective, but let’s remember that it wasn’t an entirely meaningless theory. The name itself consisted of adding another barber to the name Mewthree, the same procedure was applied to the legendary birds of Kanto – Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres. Here we have hidden in the names Spanish numbers – Uno, Dos and Tres. With the development of PokeGods, other variations were created, such as Mewfour, but they did not gain much publicity.
What are urban legends?
Urban legends, are stories that circulate in communities as true events, although they often have little or no factual corroboration. These stories can be passed down by word of mouth, through social media, or through other communication channels, and often have fantastic, uncanny or frightening characteristics such as Creepypasta.
Urban legends can deal with a variety of topics, such as paranormal phenomena, creepy characters, unexplained events, mysterious places or dangers hidden in everyday situations. They often contain supernatural elements, such as ghosts, monsters or other supernatural beings, but they can also tell stories about people who have met tragic fates. After the release of the Pokemon series, amazing stories also began to appear in this fairy-tale and fun world.
Is Mewthree a Pokemon?
Unfortunately, Mewthree is just an urban legend. Mewtwo in armor has already appeared in games or Pokemon TCG cards. Eventually, however, this Pokemon gained a transformation, since the XY series of games there are as many as two mega-evolutions. We can look for minimal similarities between them and Mewthree, but it is more likely to be just a coincidence.
Although it does not exist in the official Pokemon canon, it has appeared in many fan theories and in some unofficial games or media created by the fan community.
Appearance and abilities
Despite its great interest or popularity, it is hard to classify and describe Mewtwo. His appearance is best described by a photo from the Pokedex. He was very often depicted as a combination of Mewtwo and Mew, which was supposed to somewhat suggest an evolutionary lineage. He was supposed to be extremely powerful, but most often it was the storyteller who described the downright grotesque powers he was supposed to possess. As a result, the story kept firing up the imaginations of players hoping to get their hands on him.
However, this was often accompanied by extremely exorbitant requirements. These included, for example, completing the entire Pokedex, which was already fraught with problems, since at the time no one yet knew how to catch Mew.
